Our son is playing soccer in Portugal and staying at Lisboa campground/bungalows. We are looking for a place to stay nearby that is central to sights, shopping and restaurants. We will be there for the first two weeks in August. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Unfortunately the campgrounds are about 6 miles from the tourist center of Lisbon. So you will need a rental car or taxi.

Thank you Michael. Can you recommend a hotel in the Chiado or Rossio areas? I hear those are nice locations. We will probably Uber to the Lisboa camp if its not close to attractions or sights. Thanks again.

If you are going to be here for two weeks, you might want to look for a vacation rental rather than a hotel. There are a great many nice apartments for rent short term.
Unfortunately, from looking at a map, the campgrounds aren't close to the main areas of Lisbon and there isn't a metro in the area. So you will likely be using uber or a taxi frequently. The good news is that both are cheap in the area.
The town of Alges is pretty close and Belem wouldn't be too far away. Being close to the rail station in either town would enable you to ride the train into Lisbon easily.

Sorry, just read the other responses... if you stay in Baixa/Chiado, there are a great many rentals and it's easy to take the train out to Alges where you can pick up a taxi to the campgrounds pretty inexpensively. I take a taxi from the Alges train station to IKEA (close to the campgrounds) for between 5 and 6 euros.
