Hello from beautiful Lisbon! We are nearing the end of our time here in Lisbon before moving on to Sao Miguel and then Porto! The weather has been incredible! Glad I brought comfortable shoes! Lots of hills!! We got a Lisbon Card upon arrival and have made great use of it! Lots of free places to check out, as well as free use of the public transport! Really no hiccups so far! We got a little lost trying to find our AirBnB as we are staying in Alfama and none of the streets are straight! Took a half day trip to Sintra yesterday on the train The one suggestion I would have is unless you are in to royal history, just pay for the ticket to Pena Park, and go up to the Palace, and only walk around the outside. You can get up there without having a ticket for the inside of the palace. We stood in line for over 30 min yesterday for the inside of the palace in the morning, and I think our time could have been better spent. That’s really the only thing I wish we did differently so far! Looking forward to another week in Portugal!
If you are looking for a Fado restaurant, I recommend Duque da Rua (R. do Duque 23, 1200-158 Lisboa). It's a bit of a walk from the Alfama district - and the last 200 meters are a steep trek, but it is so worth it. Maybe Uber it.
It might be tough getting a seat on a Saturday night. We saw Nuno Vicente with Jose Timoteo and Tiago Fins last week. Wonderful!
Thank you!!!
