First time to Portugal in May. We will be joining a tour group for 2 weeks that will visit Lisbon then travel into Spain for rest of the trip. We are arriving 4-6 days early (havent booked flights yet) to be able to recover a bit from jet lag and explore on own. We enjoy exploring small villages and would like to branch outside of Lisbon to see some. Is this doable by train? Uber? bus? Really do not want to rent a car. Are there tours that take visitors to some small towns near Lisbon? Which towns/villages would you recommend? We both enjoy photographing unique places and Just need a little direction with planning.
