Sintra or Cascais for 2 nights

After our arrival at the airport, we would like to take an Uber and start our tour and jet lag in Sintra or Cascais for two nights of lodging, visiting the other town for a day trip. After that we will go to Lisbon.

Any recommendations or experiences to help us solve this decision. Or any suggestions of lodgings, either hotel or BnB.

If your goal is to mostly relax for the first couple of days, I'd say Cascais is a better bet. It's a lovely little beach town. Sintra has more to see, so it would be a busier experience.

We were at both places last year. Sintra was green hills, palaces and gardens to explore and good restaurants but crowded even in April. Cascais was ocean, beach, walking, biking, shopping and good restaurants but crowded. It all depends on what you like to do. As far as lodging, check out booking.com for your price range and availability for your time frame but book through the hotel itself.

Good suggestions of starting in Cascais first for a day or two and then explore Sintra. IMHO you only need one full day to explore Sintra; so one night stay there is good. Jet lag can be a very real thing. For sure though, stay in the sunlight as late as possible that first day.

I don't remember there being lodgings around Sintra when we visited. Both places deserve a day each.
