Side trip to Porto from Lisboa

I am planning to stays a few days in Lisboa and take two days to visit Porto and Coimbra by train.

Preliminary, I plan to take an early train to Coimbra, walk around and then go to Porto. Spend one or two nights before riding the train back to Lisboa.

Any ideas?
My preference: I love little cobble streets with old buildings and spend time to try the wine and local food without rushing to see everything. Of course I am interested in visiting churches, museums and castles too.

Thank you!!

Can only speak to Porto as we did a full day there and spent the night before taking the train to Lisbon.

You can walk the Ribeira district (riverfront area along the Douro River) that has cool shops and bars. Certainly also find time to cross the bridge over to Vila Nova de Gaia to do the wineries on that side of the river. My wife and I both love Sandeman's port wines and got to do a tour and sampling there...would recommend!
