Side trip to Algarve in Winter

All,
My wife and I are planning a monthlong visit to Lisbon next Winter (probable mid-February to Mid-March).
A two or three night stay in the Algarve sounds interesting to us as it would be less crowded and expensive than in-season.
We will be traveling by train, so I am limiting it to Lagos, Portimao , Guarteira , Faro, Othao or Tavira

Anyone have winter experiences at any of these towns or even just an opinion on the plan in general.

Regards,
Dennis and Elinore

I visited Lagos in March a few years ago and would definitely go back in your time frame. I loved having plenty to do, but without crowds. It's a great time of year to hike and I even did a kayaking trip in the caves outside Lagos. One funny memory is being on a beach in Carvoeiro watching a young lady get out of the water in her bikini, drying off and putting on a winter coat. That really did kind of sum up what most people were wearing.

UPDATE:
It is going to be Lagos. Turns out a Portuguese friend has a house there and insists we stay there at no charge. I guess now I am looking for restaurants and sites.
