Should we take a bus or train from Obidos to Coimbra--what about a private driver?

My husband and I and a family friend are trying to figure out the best way to get from Obidos to Coimbra in early October, 2017. My husband doesn't want to drive. Can anyone recommend a private driver or should we take the bus or train? Thank You for your advice.

I just did a little research and the options other than driving aren't great. The cheapest is the train but starting from Óbidos, you are going to be on a small, old train that stops 16 times between the two cities. But the bus takes a really long time - 3 plus hours.
The one private transfer I found was over 200€.

I will say that driving in that part of Portugal is really easy. The roads are good and there isn't much traffic. But, if driving isn't an option, you will likely have to choose between cost and time.

It looks like a rental car would be the most logical way to go-- I'll see if I can sweet talk my husband into driving.
