Should we include Madeira in our 14 day honeymoon to Portugal?

My Fiancée and I are currently planning our Honeymoon for 2 weeks in Portugal. There is so much to do and to see. Planning the itinerary is starting to become confusing. Our biggest question:

Should we take 3-4 days to fly to Madeira in those 14 days? Or should we focus on the mainland?

From what we have seen in our research, we would absolutely love the hikes, food and adventures that Madeira has to offer. However, we also do not want to neglect “must do’s” in the mainland.

Thank you all in advance for your answers/suggestions

If you do go to Madeira after you say there is so much to see and do in Portugal, then you will have to sacrifice some of that see and do. You will have FOMO on both ends.

We loved Madeira but did it as a separate trip from mainland. You can see a lot in 4 days on the island, though. So if you spend 4 nights on Madeira then the next 10 nights on the mainland, then I think you'd see quite a bit.

I am interested in any ideas on Madeira--where to stay, what to see, so what is suggested please?.
Also fly from Lisbon or Porto? And it it necessary to return to the mainland of Portugal before returning to the east coast US?

@mguess- It is better to put questions like this on your other thread- but yes Azores Airlines fly direct on certain days of the week all year from Funchal (Madeira) to New York JFK and seasonally to Boston.
Note that Funchal is rated as one of the more dangerous airports in the world due to it's layout so direct flights have to make a technical refueling stop at Ponta Delgada (Azores) due to restricted take off weights.
