We have a trip in June staying 3 nights in Lisbon and 3 nights in Lagos. On the next day we fly back to Boston (4pm)
Our current flights are in and out of Lisbon, yet I'm realizing that flying home from the Faro Airport might be the better option. Someone mentioned traveling back to Lisbon the night before our flight, but we don't want to shorten our Lagos visit. We could get up early and travel to Lisbon Airport, or change our flight to be from Faro (the flight stops in Lisbon then on to Boston). What makes the most sense? If we take a bus or train back to Lisbon on the day of our flight, is it difficult to get from the bus or train terminal to the airport? Is it better to hire a driver? Would departing from Faro make our travel easier? Thank you for any guidance!!!
You are a long way from Lisbon if anything goes wrong. Your train or bus could be cancelled last minute. There could be a track disruption or a highway accident that blocks traffic. And you need to be at the airport by 1 pm.
If you absolutely want to stay in Faro the night before your flight, then change your return ticket to fly out of there. That way you are protected in case you miss the connecting flight out of Lisbon.
Good points, thank you. I just changed my departure to be out of Faro. It's more expensive than the train or bus, but I'll be worried about this connection my entire trip. So for peace of mind we will fly out of Faro.
We also flew home from Faro. We had rented a car from ZestCarRental.com from Lisbon to drive down to and use in the Algarve. We stayed 4 nights in Lagos. We dropped off the car in the Faro airport parking lot and flew home.
Glad to hear flying out of Faro is successful! Was there any activity in Lagos that you would highly recommend?
Days of Adventure - grotto boat cruise was fun.
Walking and photographing Ponta da Piadade at sunset.
Exploring and photographing old town and harbour before dawn.
Thank you! Looking up Days of Adventure now. They look great!
