Sevilla to Lagos to Lisbon

Hello.

Currently is Sevilla and now thinking of train or bus to Lagos and then train to Lisbon,
Comments ?
Only have the Lagos part of my Rick Steves Portugal guide and only 1 of 3 recommended hotels appears open, the Hotel Riomar which is okay for my budget.
Turns out that I have time for a couple days in Lisbon before I fly back, so need a economical hotel recommendation for Lisbon hopefully in Bairro Alto area.

There are no trains from Seville to Portugal.
Unless you are intent on visiting the Algarve (and 1 night in Lagos in January is perhaps not the best way to do so), I would consider a direct bus (or flight if within budget) from Seville to Lisbon. It would save a lot of headache.

I am starting to think of extending my stay in Sevilla and flying to Lisbon.
