Anyone have thoughts about Seven Hanging Valleys trail in the Western Algarve in September? I’m just starting to think about a trip to Portugal. We absolutely loved the coastal trail in the Zíngaro Nature Reserve by Scopello, Sicily. Even at our snail’s pace. I’ve been reading that the Western side of the Algarve can be very crowded. Also wondering how many high rise hotels might be just out of range of the camera lense in the spectacular trail photos I’ve seen online?
I hiked this in March, so can't say how crowded it could be in September, but I found most people were at the beginning and end of the hike, which seems to be typical of popular hiking spots. It's fairly isolated, with no hotels in site most/any of the hike as I recall. I would definitely recommend this hike if you want to get spectacular photos.
I also loved the path just outside Lagos, Pont da Piedade. Again, stunning views and very few people around, at least in the morning.
I googled Scopello and now I want to go there too!
KRS, thanks so much for responding to my question! This is exactly the information I was seeking, plus some bonuses. Thanks for your suggestions on other trails too. We love to hike, even if not far nor fast!
