Seeking Lisbon Visitor Information

I will be in Lisbon next October 1st for three or four nights. This will be my first time in Lisbon. I am taking a cruise which will end in Lisbon and then flying home to the United States from Lisbon.

I always appreciate any tips and suggestions for those who have been and or live there.

I have already discovered a very reasonable hotel with good reviews: The Empire Lisbon at Avenida Almirante Reis, no. 130,
1150-023 Lisbon.

Is anyone aware of this hotel.

What links do you recommend for me to get visitor information and maybe day excursions.

Here's a useful link

Ricksteves.com

Under Explore Europe you'll find a wealth of information about Portugal ( and other European countries).
Under Shop online you'll find links to Rick Steves many travel guides and videos. If you're just going to Lisbon I'd recommend his Snapshot Lisbon guide.

The hotel you found is a little bit too far from the city center in my opinion. The metro makes up for it, but I would still prefer hotels further south: in Baixa, Chiado, the area around Restauradores & Martim Moniz squares...
I think that many hotels haven't opened bookings for October 2023 yet, so you might want to check regularly. If the hotel room you found is refundable, perhaps book it now for peace of mind, but I would be ready to reconsider.

In addition to guide books from Rick Steves and Lonely Planet, you might find the website of expat blogger Julie Dawn Fox helpful. https://juliedawnfox.com/tag/lisbon/. All of these sources describe the pros and cons of staying in a number of different neighborhoods as well as recommending hotels, restaurants, and logistics for visiting various sites.

Thank you all for your helpful and informative responses. I will be checking out the tips and keeping you updated.

Balso, it is too early for most hotels to post rooms but it is still interesting just how many I did get.

I have previously done research on Lison and found that it is hilly. I think that is is best if I stay in the flat area which I believe is Baixa.
