Any advice on getting to the Roman Ruins in Conimbriga from Coimbra?
I appreciate all your travel advice from this site!
We went to Conimbraga from Coimbra in November and used Uber out and back for 12-13 euros each way for 3 of us because the buses weren’t running that frequently (if at all!). Might depend on time of year. Note that getting a return Uber back to Coimbra also took a bit of time as drivers weren’t willing to come out to get us!! Interesting place to visit. Enjoy!
If you’re going to be in Portugal for awhile, it might be useful to download Bolt. It’s the same as Uber and used widely. And, it’s usually a bit cheaper. Same cars and drivers - I can’t really tell the difference once I’m in the car. Might be useful to get back from Conimbriga if Uber is slow.
Without a rental car, Uber or Bolt is your only real option.
We took the bus and organized ourselves to meet its schedule. Don't recall it being inordinately inconvenient whatever day of the week it was, nor any issues of being greatly off-schedule.
We were there in October 2021 and used a private driver. I recommend bringing a picnic lunch. There are picnic tables in field by the entrance.
Thanks for the info!
