RS Portugal Tour - Quick Questions

We have about three weeks until our tour starts and are reviewing what we need to pack. Trying to be minimal. If you've been on the tour, do you remember if each hotel has a hairdryer? Do hotels have facecloths? Did you bring sandals for beach walks (normally we bring only one pair of shoes) . Can you think of anything you wish you had bought with you?

Also - we generally prefer to picnic for lunches. In other European countries we've visited, grocery stores have ready made sandwiches for sale. Does Portugal have the like? Assume it is "bring your own bag"?

1) Hairdryers were available at each of the hotels on my tour last fall.
2) I didn’t notice if any of the hotels had face cloths (I use my hands rather than a cloth to clean my face, so I never notice that European hotels don’t have washcloths)
3) The only beach my tour visited was at Nazare and we were only there a few hours. I had trail runners on during our visit. I did bring sandals on the tour, but I primarily wore the trail runners as they were better on the uneven tiled streets.
4) I can’t think of anything specific to bring along that I forgot.
5) I didn’t notice sandwiches in the few grocery stores I visited. I did get a pre-packaged salad at the Aldi grocery store in Coimbra which was close to our hotel. I carry a fold-up grocery bag in my purse and I did use that when shopping. There were a couple of places where I visited markets and got something to takeaway for lunch (e.g., the Timeout Market in Lisbon, the market in Porto).

I hope you enjoy your tour.

Continente and Auchan supermarkets are the only ones I have seen with prepared foods.
You can use Google maps to locate them.
The smaller supermarkets usually don't have prepared foods.

Cafe's usually make sandwiches, ham, cheese, some also make bifana - a fried pork cutlet on a bun.
