We will be visiting Portugal in November. On a previous trip I headed from Lisbon straight to Algarve on A2. Has anyone done a road trip on the West Coast down to Algarve from Lisbon or Sintra? Is it worth the extra time?

We're going to Portugal in November as well. We're going to staying in Vila Nova de Milfontes, south of Lisbon, for several days to enjoy parts of the Fisherman's Trail - hiking trail, little towns up and down the coast and the area in general. Much of the area is parkland that has not been built up like some of the other coastlines. There are roads to the little towns and resorts, but not a route that hugs the coastline. We like the roads less travelled, so this is perfect for us. Maybe not answering your question directly, but gives you an idea of what to expect.
