Shocking news item from The Onion:
LISBON—Rick Steves, host of the PBS series Rick Steves' Europe, was
robbed by gypsies while wandering the labyrinthine streets of the
Alfama Monday. "These quaint but rickety sailors' quarters no longer
house salty men of the sea, but they do play host to a colorful array
of vagabonds," Steves said, clapping along to a band of dancing Roma
children while his watch was being stolen from his backpack by their
mother.
Hard to believe his watch was in his backpack and not on his wrist. Was this an April 1st item of The Onion?

That story appears to be dated 11.24.04 so it's not exactly "current". The Onion is not a source that I'd trust for reliable news.
I never read the Onion so know nothing about it. I rely on The Shallot and sometimes The Garlic for my important news.
The Onion, like the Harvard Lampoon is a satirical news source. Kind of like an antidote to The Enquirer for the thinking public.
