We' be spending eight days in Lisbon split up by a 7 day driving trip this October.
(Skip Porto, Duoro and points north having enjoyed those places in the past)
How's this for a leisurely week long car itinerary, allowing for side trips: Car rental begins and ends at LIS:
-Coimbra for 2 nights
-Tomar one night
-Obidos one night
-Evora for 3 nights
Add Alcobaça and Batalha which are near Obidos. Obidos is good for two hours at most. We regretted stayed in Obidos in spite of having a room in the lovely Pousada there.
If you’re into Knights Templar stuff, one night in Tomar won’t be enough. We have 4 nights planned for it later this year, but we’ll be taking some day trips. The time you have set aside for Óbidos and Coimbra is about right. Not sure what the draw to Evora is for 3 nights. Overall, it should be a fun trip.
Thinking was of doing Bathala, Fatima and Alcobaca on way to a night in Obidos.
Then across to Evora. 3 nights allows for side trips, wine tasting and also dropping one night to go elsewhere instead.
But where? The coast?
From Evora, if you wouldn’t mind a day trip to Spain, you could make a loop and visit Jerez de los Caballeros, Zafra, Castillo de Feria s. XV, and Castle Nogales before returning to Evora via Badajoz. It would be a long day.
