Soo excited, we will be in Lisbon the 12th of June!! I'm looking for any tips or restaurant suggestions! Definitely want to eat authentic Portuguese and not spend a lot of money. We will be staying in the Chiado neighborhood but are willing to go anywhere for a great meal!
Would love to get some suggestions for a nice dinner out but also good places to get a bite at lunch, fresh sandwiches etc
Thanks!
J

Interesting read about being hip.

The 12-13th of June is the Festival of Saint Antonio is Lisbon. This is one of - if not - the biggest festival of the year. The Alfama and Mouraria neighborhoods compete to have the best street party. They decorate the streets, have grills outside grilling sardines, lots of music dancing, drinking, etc.
It would be something to see while you are here - and a place to get authentic Portuguese food. I would go in the afternoon, though, to avoid the huge crowds at night.
The Time Out market at the Rebeira Mercado is good for all day eating and is easy from Chiado. There are also a number of wonderful miradouros that have cafes or snack bars. If you google 'miradouros Lisbon' you can find more info. Behind the Largo do Carmo ( at the top of the elevador Santa Justa) is a cafe with amazing views. The Santa Catarina miradouro is in Chiado so it would be an easy place to find.
