We will be taking a train from Lisbon to Faro. We will be renting a car for two weeks when we arrive in Faro. What is the best place to pick up the rental. Are there rental agencies near the Faro train station or should we take a taxi to the airport to pick up the rental car?

I have googled this as I have always hired and returned cars at the airport. I have used Faro rail station on a separate occasion and don’t recall if there were any car hire places.
A dummy Google booking is defaulting to an airport rental, so there don’t seem to be any offices at the train station.

I too would prefer a rental location near the train station as well. Please let me know if anybody has any suggestions

There is a Hertz office in town rather than the airport. I did a quick search on Auto Europe (which I highly recmmmend). The less expensive options only had offices at the airport but Hertz had a second location. I don’t know if it is close to the train station.

Hertz do have 2 offices in Faro - one at the airport itself and another in Montenegro, about a mile from the airport. They don’t seem to have any offices in the centre of Faro, but probably 99% of people arriving in Faro come via the airport rather than the train station.

Thank you. I assume we'll be able to take a taxi to a car rental agency at the Faro airport.
