My husband and I are adding on two days in front of our rick Steves tour of Portugal and are planning to rent a car at the Lisbon airport and drive to Lagos to stay two nights to see the Algarve area. Wondering about the difficulty of renting a car at the airport and logistics of driving to Lagos. We’ve already booked the hotel but not the car.

Driving from Lisbon to Lagos is straightforward - mostly motorway - about three hours.
There will be tolls and you may be able to rent a payments transponder with the car.
