Flying in to Madrid. Driving around Portugal. Will spend 3ish days in Lisbon. Trying to save $ on parking as much as possible. I know it might be tricky finding economical parking options. That being said, are there good parts of town where we might be more lucky? Hotels recommended? Other ideas?
Where do you plan to drop the car? It's usually extremely expensive to pick up in one country and return in another.
Returning in Madrid. Making a loop.
When I travel with a car in Europe, I use booking.com and filter those hotels with parking. Each hotel site will tell you if they have parking and the fee. It will be best to park the car for the duration of the time you are in Lisbon. The public transportion is easy and cheap and much less of a hassle than trying to drive in the city.
You might find cheaper parking somewhat outside of Lisbon. But, if you are only staying three days, I would want to be in the city.
If you're only taking the car to get to/from Lisbon, have you considered flying? Faster, a lot less hassle, maybe about the same cost, when you factor in gas, tolls, parking, etc.
viamichelin.com estimates net driving time at 6.5 hours, gas and tolls at €62.50
Thanks for the ideas. We are flying into Madrid and driving all over Portugal. One stop us Lisbon. I've been using booking.com and filtering for parking. Also, airport long term parking might work well.
