Regua vs Pinhão

So in April we will be in Porto and take the train to either Regua or Pinhao for a two night stay. Not sure if we should stay in Regua or Pinhao. I know Regua is bigger but from what I am reading, the vineyards are kind of spread out so it seems you can't go from one to another to another like Napa. Do you think we can hire a driver at either place to do that? Maybe stay in Regua and take a day trip to Pinhao. We might do a one hour boat trip from one of these places but def not doing the boat trip from Porto. Other stuff to do in each. Recommendations where to stay besides Quinta de la Rosa. (we will spend a touch more money to get a nice place with great staff and attentiveness. We are looking at Douro41 since it also has a spa, but it might be booked. Also from either Regua or Pinhao are there cabs to take you to your hotel ? Or is taking the train to the end of the line during our stay worth it? Thoughts? Thanks for all your help as always

We stayed just outside Regau at Quinta do Vallado in 2015 & enjoyed their dinner with wine pairing in house. Nice wines & tawny port. Cabs available for short drive into town if needed. We did Pinhao as a day trip, took in a boat ride there then stopped by the Sandeman‘s Quinta do Seixo for a tasting with a stunning view of the valley looking down on Pinhao. Chef Rui Paula’s DOC restaurant is in Folgasa, highly recommended. He also has a restaurant in Porto, DOP. We rented a car at Porto airport. Driving was fine, mainly highway to Regau.
