Recomendations on where to stay in Lisbon when we have a rental car.

OK thanks for the recommendations they are very helpful. We will be changing our itenerary to leave Lisbon immediately and stay in Nazere, then continue making our way North to Porto and surrounding area. Then make our way back South to Lisbon, return our car and explore the sites in Lisbon. Do you have any recomendations for where to stay on the outskirts of town in Porto so we can explore Porto w/out the car prior to driving out to Duoro Valley. Thanks for all of your help!

Hotel Mundial right in the heart of old town has free private parking on site. Another quick booking.com search shows options near metro stops away from old town with parking 17-25 Euros per day. Consider staying in those sites you would like to see prior to Lisbon stay or take bus tours from Lisbon. Lisbon may be done without a car. It is very convenient to leave the Lisbon airport for driving. Wow, some of the per night charges for rooms are high in Lisbon in November.

If you want to visit Obidos, Nazaré, etc. you don't want to use Lisbon as a hub. Driving into, out of and around Lisbon is a nightmare. Not only would you waste precious time because of traffic congestion, you'll also have the added expense of parking, tolls and fuel. Base yourself centrally outside the city for a night or two, then ditch the car when you get to Lisbon. Very easy to get to Sinatra and Belem by public transport. Driving in a large city in which you have no familiarity is stressful and dangerous.

Obidos and Nazaré are not neighboring towns of Lisbon. The distances are deceptive, and as mentioned earlier, drivIng out of and back into Lisbon for day trips would not be good.
Stay in Nazaré or another town on the Silver Coast for a night then see Obidos on your way to Lisbon. Don't keep your car in Lisbon. The public transport is very good around town and into the suburbs so a car is more trouble than it's worth.
