Just my quick two cents. I liked Pinhao on the Douro better than peso da regua. And I wasn’t a fan of Aviero. As someone else said recently, if you go expecting the Venice of Portugal, you will be disappointed. Try to include Sintra and Evora if you can, day trips from Lisbon.

I'd remove the night in Aveiro and add it to the Silver Coast (Nazare). Or instead of Nazare, you can stay a couple of nights in Tomar. Depends on if you like the beach in the evenings or historical town / Knights of Templar :)

I love Porto, so if there's a chance to add days to your trip, I would increase the time there. I also love the Minho region, so one night there seems quick for me. But your interests may be different.

Braga and Guimaraes can be day trips from Porto, if you'd have an interest in reducing hotel changes.

I was figuring Braga, then Guimarae would my day trp and just end the night there.

I would drop the night in Aveiro and add it to Nazare, as Monday 3 October has far too much scheduled for one day.

I saw Alcobaca, Batalha and Tomar over two separate days, as you need half a day each including travel time. Your driving times are all optimistic. If using Google, add a third. Fatima was my least favourite town in this area.

I have only been to Lisbon and Sintra so I can't comment on the other places. Looks like you have 5 nights in Lisbon, which is good. I recommend spending a day in Sintra. You can do that as a day trip from Lisbon, or another suggestion is to spend one night in Sintra and 4 nights in Lisbon.

Definitely not worth it as an overnight stay. If it were on the way from Peso da Regua to Coimbra, you could consider stopping there for lunch...but it is not really on the way. Not a huge detour though.

I'm the person who wrote "if you go expecting the Venice of Portugal, you will be disappointed." I can't find the thread, though I'm sure it was very recent. My trip was 3.5 weeks, so I had the time to spend a night there. I went mostly for the architecture (art deco, art nouveau) and for that reason was not disappointed. I took the boat tour on the "canals" which was moderately interesting. The fish market was mostly frozen fish from Scandinavia. And I bought a really lovely tablecloth there, so I have very fond memories. It would be better to visit Aveiro by train from Porto (maybe even as a day trip rather than waste time changing hotels). Or you could continue by train to Coimbra and then double-back to Porto to pick up the car. You really only need the car in Coimbra if you plan to visit the Roman ruins. If not, one full day in Coimbra is enough in any case. It's about an hour by train between Coimbra and Porto with Aveiro about half way between them.

Nazare was my only disappointment on that trip. Whatever its attractions are eluded me completely. In retrospect I should have done more homework and spent the time in another coastal town. Driving times on any app are optimal. In Portugal if you aren't usng a tollroad, add 25-50% to driving times, plus time to find parking. I didn't visit Fatima. I went to at least 4 monasteries, the one in Tomar was my least favorite by far. There's not much to see in the town. I used it as a base, with a car, and that was fine. Easy to find free parking, lots of restaurant choices and not much traffic driving in and out. I agree with others that trying to visit Fatima, Batalha and Tomar in one day is not feasible.

I would evaluate when you really need the rental car. We are going 8/19/22-9/5/22 and were going to pick up a car in Porto and drop at Lisbon however it was twice as much $92 a day compared to if we took the train to Lisbon (3.25hrs) and then picked up car at Sixt by station and back tracked to Obidos and visited Tomar and the other towns, car is $46 a day totally worth the train ride Porto-Lisbon and then getting car and back tracking. To do the Douro Valley we are hiring a car and guide for the day is actually less than expense of rental car and we don’t have to drive. The same company does tours to Braga so we might use them for that also. The whole time staying at the same hotel in Porto. Throughout the years of traveling Europe we have learned the value in 2+ night stays and not trying to squeeze to much in a day. Like Rick says assume you will return and he was right we have every year (minus covid) 2-3 times a year.

The car isnt an issue. I get an insane rate with my company, 300 bucks for the whole week.

So Instead of Nazare where should I stay?
Should I stay in Porto Longer? I
Im planning on doing an early morning Hike at Cabo Da Roca, 5-7 hours, then dropping the car off in Lisbon.

Are you planning to use a corporate rate for your personal travel?
Be careful: this summer, just over the border in Spain, I tried to do the same with Hertz, but 15 days before pickup I received an email saying that corporate rates would not be honored for personal travel. And indeed, my company's travel policy manager confirmed that as of 2021, Hertz renegotiated our agreement and no longer granted this perk. So, do check your company's agreement with your company's travel policy manager!

You aren’t visiting Alcobaça? We much preferred it to Bathalba. Portugal’s royalty are entombed at Alcobaça and it’s architecture is stunning, simple. I agree with the others, take a quick look at Aviero but do not spend the night there.
