RAPID4ALL Lisbon - Can Children Use?

My family of 6 is planning a cruise in May 2024 that departs Civitaveccia. We are departing from Washington, DC. The choice for flights is between a TAP Air Portugal flight with a 2.5 hour layover in Lisbon vs. a direct flight that breaks the budget. We are traveling with my five year old grandson. Does anyone know if he will be permitted to use the RAPID4ALL system? If so, we may be able to get through the passport check without waiting in a long line. I am just fretting about whether that is too short a layover given that we are traveling with a small child and need extra time for most everything. Appreciate any thoughts.

Looks like he will not be able to use the RAPID4ALL system. Look at this website :
https://pt.usembassy.gov/travel-advisory-us-passport-holders-may-use-automated-egates-at-immigration-062322/

It specifically states:

To use the RAPID4ALL, you must:

Present a United States E-passport
Be 18 years old or older
Enter the European Union through Portugal
Not exceed the permitted period of stay in Portugal

2.5 hours layover time should typically be ample time for plane transfer.
