Rail Ninja is based in Hong Kong. The actual train operator is CP. I know which site I would use to book tickets.

Cp.pt won’t be selling tickets this far out. Always use cp.pt!

Companies do this for Chinese train tickets - they know when the tickets go on sale so they buy them for you as soon as the seats are released and you pay them a small commission fee because it’s almost impossible for foreigners to buy train tickets online any other way. As people mentioned, I don’t think there is any need to do this for Portugal because you can just use the cp website or app yourself and pay with a credit card or PayPal.

In my opinion Rail Ninja is a rip off. Always try to go to the original train site. Rail Ninja will charge 2x to you to get your ticket. Something you could easily do. Or buy your tickets at the train statin.

Hi

Only buy tickets from cp.pt

CP address the issue of unauthorized ticket sales and specifically names rail ninja and kiwi.
CP will not accept any responsibility for unauthorized ticket sales - you're on your own.

The fact that CP created a page to specifically warn about this issue only means that a large number of issues have happened to warrant the time and effort to create it.

CP official page regarding unauthorized ticket sales:
