Quinta de Marrocos

My wife and I are planning a Portugal trip for this fall and are trying to book 4 nights at the Rick Steves recommended Quinta de Marrocos. We sent a deposit almost a week ago and got confirmation from our bank that it went through, yet we’ve not heard anything at all from Marrocos. We’ve emailed multiple times and called once to finalize details, and no one has gotten back to us. Rick describes this place as “informal,” but yet confirmation would be reassuring.

Has anyone stayed at Quinta de Marrocos recently and, if so, did you have any trouble with registering and sending a deposit? Thanks!

I stayed there in 2019 and really enjoyed it, excellent room, great food, good service, wonderful views. I reserved through booking.com. Be sure to get exact driving instructions. It's tricky and there's an easy way and an amazingly daunting way to get there.

Edit. Oops, I got this mixed up with another place I stayed at. The Quinta was wonderful. The room was delightful, the food was terrific, the wines were better and the port was exceptional. The staff were great. The only difficulty is the tiny parking lot, so it takes a little maneuvering getting out. The smaller your car, the better. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Thanks so much for your helpful remarks about Quinta de Marrocos. We hope to resolve what may be a misunderstanding, as we are looking forward to our time in the Douro River Valley, and we are also eager to plan the rest of our trip!

To put your mind at ease, it might be worth calling them by phone if you don't get a response soon With a wifi calling app such as google voice it is, I think, 3 cents per minute to call Portugal. There are also free trials with some vendors.

I visited Quinta de Marrocos on a Duoro day tour several years ago. It seemed like it would be a good place to stay a few nights.

They use Whatsapp phone number +351 966 053 517. Free calls and messaging. I'd try that.
