Went to Portugal this past October and one of the highlights for us was visiting the Joanina library in Coimbra and seeing Fado in Coimbra if you have the time.

I feel that Obidos is overrated . I would skip it in favor of spending more time in Coimbra. The Joanina Library at the University of Coimbra is one of the most beautiful libraries in the world. There's also a science museum of natural oddities on the University campus. Also, Coimbra is a good place to buy authentic Portuguese ceramics and tiles.

Obidos is a cute town and fun to walk the walls, but I wouldn't go there during the tourist season because of the crowds and the narrow streets. But if you can avoid the larger crowds, it would be worth a stop. Jardim do Morro is lovely for sunset in Vila Nova de Gaia.
