Has anyone ever stayed in a quarto in Portugal or Nazare specifically?
Do the rooms usually have a private bathroom or do you share with the family?

I did stay in a few quartos in Portugal, selected by "going home" with someone who met the train. In these cases, bathrooms might have been shared with other guests, but not with the family. Many vendors will carry photos of the rooms or can answer the question "with bath?". The only area where I have shared a bath with the host family was in less-touristed towns of Eastern Europe .
