Purchasing timed entry tix for Sintra sights?

My wife & I will be in Sintra on Jan 11-12, 2024. It is a Thursday/Friday. I’ve read that it’s a good idea to purchase the timed entry tickets for Quinta de Regalia, Peña Palace & Moorish Castle. I’m wondering if it will be crowded then since this is considered the “down” season? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I was there in Sept 2022. At that time, it was necessary to prebook Pena Palace for a specific timeslot. I would suggest going to Pena Palace first as it seems to get more crowded as the day goes on. I booked the day before and could only get one of the late afternoon timeslots. It was jam packed. If you go to the Pena Palace website, you can see how many tickets are left for each of the various timeslots.

I just walked up to Quinta de Regalia and had a very short wait to buy tickets at their ticket office.

I was in Sinatra in late October. Laura is correct that you can go to the site and look at the number of tickets left to determine if you need to book in advance. I would recommend that if possible to purchase the Peña Palace in advance as that seems to be the one in the most demand. We purchased the Moorish Castle in advance, but the wind and the rain were so bad, it wasn’t safe to go. That one, I had wished that we waited as there were plenty of tickets available and I could have picked them up onsite without wasting my money on the advanced tickets I couldn’t use.

Hello,
We will be there in May 2024. we will be driving from Cascais. I understand parking can be difficult but what is everyone doing? I really do not like tour guides.
