Public transit in Lisbon

For our upcoming trip, it looks like trams and buses will work best since we are not near a Metro station. Now I'm wondering where I would buy/top-up a Viva Viagem card or a 24 hour ticket.

Are they sold at other locations and I somehow missed that in my reading?

Buy Via Viagem at metro or train stations. I’m not familiar with the 24 hour ticket but you can put any amount of money on the ‘zapping’ card so can purchase as little or as much as you think you’ll need.

I think the "24 hr" card is an "all you can eat" sort of card that lets you ride any tram/train/bus and get you entry to a lot of sights. RS thinks it is not a great bargain unless you are planning to carpet bomb the whole city in one day

If you are flying into Lisbon you can purchase a Viva Viagem card at a kiosk at the airport. We purchased the "zapping" or "top off" version. We could also easily check our balance left at the kiosks at other stations and then add more money to the card when and if needed. It was very handy.
