I will fly to Faro on a Wed and stay in Portimao for two nights. Should I pre-book a private car or hire a taxi/Uber/Bolt at the time of arrival? If a private transfer is better, which companies do you recommend? My hotel in Portimao gives me a quote of 80 Euros, which I think is somewhat expensive. Thank you in advance.

When do you go? Are you flying out of Faro at the end of your 2 night stay? Do you need use of a car during your stay.
If so, you may consider renting a car from and returning to FAO. For example, Zest is offering a car rental from Wednesday October 27th for 2 days for approximately €35 + €15 airport dropoff fee. Gas and tolls are extra.
