From March 30 to April 9, 2022, we will be exploring these two cities. We booked this trip before Rick Steves re-started his tours. In Rick's videos he often talks of the value of a local guide. Any suggestions for a tour guide that made your visit to Lisbon or Porto special?
We can randomly choose someone off the internet but seek suggestions here, first.
Thank you.
Hi
I would first look at Rick Steve's partner guides.
I haven't used these guides, but they have good reviews on this site.

Hope that helps start your research.
Happy travels
Julie Dawn Fox is an excellent resource but she isn’t a guide. I’ve seen Lisbon Riders be recommended a number of times in the last couple of years.
I used Your Friend in Lisbon for a private tour before moving here and was very pleased. I informed the guide I was planning to move to the area and she tailored several things on the tour to that. I thought it was above and beyond. Admittedly, that was almost seven years ago but they still get very good reviews, so I have no hesitation in recommending them. They also have tours in Porto.
In fact, this month's Julie Dawn Fox Newsletter (#78) has codes for discounts on walking tours of Porto and Lisbon as well a discount on a private airport transfer (which is a good deal, BTW) in Porto, as well as multi-day tours offered by a company other than her own.
We did a walking tour of Lisbon with Lisbon and Beyond. You can do a seach for their website.
Cristina Duarte is the primary guide, but she is also a Rick Steves guide and might be busy running Rick's Portugal tours.
Our guide was Pedro Lourenzo for the walking tour which we enjoyed very much. Both of them are listed on the website.
