Postcard from Portugal?

Hello Travelers!
So, I was so excited that you could buy postcard stamps at the gift stores, but now I'm wondering if they were the right amount. I bought 1.00 euro stamps and mailed 6 postcards three weeks ago from Lisbon to US - not one of them has arrived. Also, the red box outside the postoffice in Belem was taped shut with a note, so I put them in the blue box, which I know is not for regular mail, but it was the only choice. How wrong have I gone here and is there any hope the postcards will ever arrive? Much thanks!!!

Assume you were sending your post cards sir mail? “Post offices are called CTT (www.ctt.pt). Correio normal (ordinary mail) goes in the red letterboxes, correio azul (airmail) goes in the blue boxes. Automated red postal stands dispense stamps, saving you the hassle of waiting in line at the post office” Lonely Planet

I mailed a postcard home from Obidos and got it about three and a half weeks later, so there's still hope for you!

Thank you! I saw on another forum one took 3 weeks just to the UK, so we shall see.... Did I get the amount (1 euro) right?

The post isn't often fast, and post cards won't be high priority.

I don't know if you got genuine stamps or 3rd party tourist stamps which require special handling and are often bundled up and sent to Asia for shipment around the world - very slow and unreliable.

What does the stamp say on it?

What did the note on the postbox say? Did you try another one?

If you used a genuine stamp and posted it in the correct postbox the internet and google translate say the price for under 20g to the rest of the world (US included) is 0,91€.

Thanks so much for that insight. I bought them at a gift store - they had a picture of a tram on them and said international. The blue box was a standard blue box next to the standard red box, which was cardboarded and taped shut, they were both right infront of the post office. My bad for not being patient enough to put them in another red box elsewhere. I'll post if they ever arrive. Thank you!!!
