Possible Portugal Itinerary for Easter 2019

We are already planning for 2019. Give us feedback on the following:
4 nights in Lisbon including day trip to Evora (will need to get over jet lag from Australia)
Pick up hire car in Lisbon and drive as follows:
2 nights in Obidos
2 nights in Coimbra
1 night in Duoro Valley ( Is this sufficient, where should we stay)
1 night in Salamanca
2 nights in Santiago de Compostelo
2 nights in Porto
Drop off hire car in Porto and fly to London
Thanks in advance

I’m not certain what you would do with two nights in Obidos. It’s quite small and overrun by tourists. At Easter it’s worse because so many Spanish come to Portugal. You can easily see Obidos on your way to Coimbra - which does deserve two nights.
Also, trying to see both Salamanca and Santiago de Compostela with only three nights is driving way too much - especially since they are in different directions from Porto. If you really can’t skip Spain, I would choose one or the other. But, IMO you could easily fill all your time in Portugal and by slowing down enjoy your trip more. You could easily do two nights in the Douro and spend the rest of your time in Porto.

I would think Salamanca a stretch with only 2 weeks to work with. Consider perhaps returning your car in Porto and then taking public transport on to Santiago de Compostela.

  1. Fly in to Lisbon (5 nights)
  2. Lisbon
  3. Day to Sintra
  4. Possible day to Evora
  5. Day to Belem & Cascais
  6. Pick up car. Drive via Obidos to Tomar (1 night)
  7. Drive to Coimbra (2 nights)
  8. Coimbra
  9. Drive to Pinhao (1 or 2 nights)
  10. Douro Vineyards
  11. Drive (N 222) via Douro Valley to Porto (2 or 3 nights). Return car.
  12. Porto
  13. Bus/train to Santiago de Compostela (2 nights)
  14. Santiago de Compostela
  15. Fly to London
