Portuguese wines to bring home

I am saving room in my suitcase to bring home some wine (especially some Ports) I've done this before with no problem. Does anyone know if there is a Duty Free shop in the Lisbon airport to purchase right as we leave for the US? Or should I just purchase it in town (Porto)? Any suggestions about which ones I should purchase?

If you have a direct flight back to the US, then buying behind security and taking it as carry on has some advantage. If not direct, then it will have to go in your checked luggage with some risk of damage.

No real need to wait until duty free, they have a limited selection, and to be honest, for wines and ports, no cheaper. The other problem with duty free is getting them into checked luggage once you hit the US if you have a transfer.

As for what? Hit one or two of the port houses in Porto for a tasting, if something is good, get it. Same with other bottles, if you are in a restaurant and it tastes good, go look for the wine at a store. Yeah, you can get most of it in the US, but you can get deals, and a few bottles are worth hauling back.

The only thing I should have picked up is a bottle of Ginja, the cherry liquor, but somehow missed out.

In June 2022 at the duty free at the Lisbon airport they had Ramos pinto Adriano white reserve port ( limited) and Adriano reserve red port that I bought and the other 2 red Ramos pinto ports that are sold in the US.

They had some Kopke 10 and 20 year tawny port. They also had almost every other popular company's 10 year tawny port.

Duty free had Ginja from Obidos.

If you want a special port blend or reserve from one of the Port lodges or vineyards then I would buy it and pack it. You maybe able to ship it to the states also.

We fly home direct from Europe, but we have brought vanilla and wine home from Mexico duty free with a connection in Texas and were able to take our duty free through TSA to our domestic flight with no issues.
