Portugal & the Azores

Any suggestions on "off the beaten" tourist path for visiting, for lodging, for food, activities in Portugal and the Azores.

Hi Roxann,

I got you covered for the Azores. I sent you a private message with the link to my guide.

When are you travelling? How many days on the ground? What are your interests? I presume you are hiring a car if you want non-touristy areas.

Off the beaten path - avoid the Algarve and any coastal resort. Do you speak Portuguese? English is less common in very rural areas to the north. The Minho is stunning.

The towns between Lisbon and Porto such as Tomar, Alcobaca and Batalha are less touristy. Obidos is very touristy.

The beaches around Melides, south of Comporta are quieter than many beaches.
