Hi not sure if this will help anyone but just back from our first road trip accross France , Spain & Portugal. With Towing a touring Caravan I decided to use the toll roads because I wasn't feeling brave enough to explore. Found the tolls so expensive and a nightmare to pay on some stretches.
On return to UK I decided to check out if I had any outstanding charges from Portugal , as their system is different than others. To my relief it was only 5 Euros owing. I had heard the usual horror stories.
The guy I was speaking to said if the charge had not been dealt with it would have just kept on increasing because they hadn't any details of mine. Obviously it would have got to me eventually but with a pile of admin fees on top I guess .
Anyway I am now in their system by buying the prepaid voucher and they text you reminded of any unpaid charges. They last for a year after the last date used so it just carries on. Each time you top up there is a small charge on top eg 10 Euros would be 10.74 euros. This is just for my car.
We are planning to go back end of year so I'll prepay a little more on line before we set off.
I rang this number from the UK they have the English option and it was great.
