The route from Salema to Lisbon doesn't go along the coast, even if you take the regular road (the freeway is way more inland). I don't think there are spots where you can ever see the Atlantic Ocean, at least not while you are driving, because even in the spots where you are closest to the coast, you are still some distance away from being able to ever see the Ocean. You could even consider returning the car in Faro and taking the Alfa Pendular train back to Lisbon, if you want to minimize the driving.
Thanks for the suggestion. Would you consider dropping the car in Lagos and taking the local and connecting to AP in Tunes?
