Portugal in May 3 to 10th :)

I'm so looking forward to this trip! Will be spending 4 days in each city Porto and Lisbon. We can't drive so will be relying on public transport. I've done a bit of research on it.. hearsay some douro cruises will not be operating during may :(
other than douro valley, what other places would you recommend? other than sintra what must do and go when in Lisbon? Any local dishes and good restaurant to recommend around these regions - Porto and Lisbon?

Thanks all!

I would say Rick's Portugal book does a very good job offering so much to see and do, as do all his books I have used.

That said, my likes and dislikes could be very different than yours. I recommend you do the hard work of picking and choosing from his book as what interests you. Even my family who live in Lisbon have learned things from his book!

Years ago we took a day bus tour to Fatima, Obidos, Nazare, Alcobaca and Batalha. This I highly recommend as you see a lot of places with a decent amount of time outside of Lisbon. We also took a 3 hour Tuk-Tuk tour in Lisbon this summer and would recommend doing that as well.

I hope this helps get your research in a good direction... Good luck!
