Hello all,
We are planning a trip to Portugal next year. I am inquiring about airlines. I live near Sacramento airport, but I am open to flying out of San Francisco/ San Jose if necessary to avoid two stops on the way over. I want to arrive in the afternoon, and I was looking at Delta as we have used them many times, but they have short layovers and this makes me nervous trying to connect in 1 hour and 20 minutes. Plus doing connections 2 times Any suggestions for just one connecting flight and an airline suggestion. Appreciate knowledge. R Sims
Have you used Google Flights? Put in your info and see what comes up. We have to come out of Bend so I’m always playing around with GF to see my best options. And with the delays we are now experiencing getting into SFO while they build their new runways, we spend the night there before our flight out.
I believe TAP Air Portugal flies direct from San Francisco to Lisbon. I have been using them for years to avoid three flights to Oklahoma. I have had no problems with them and they are my preferred airline for within Europe. One of my daughters’ has started using them and now prefers them also.
However, most airlines arrive here in the morning. So arriving in the afternoon might not be possible. A small price to pay, IMO, for a direct flight.
TAP Air Portugal is a great option for a direct flight from SFO (San Fran) to LIS (Lisbon). Cost effective plus direct screams "no brainer" to me.
We've been using TAP lately for Portugal (Lisbon) and Spain (Barcelona) flights. I was a little wary at first, but United (our other best local option) is almost 50% more in price. So far, TAP has been a good option for us and we'll use it again.
Hello all,
Thanks for the great information on Tap airlines. I see that they do not have great reviews, so I was concerned. I have decided with the crazy traffic in the bay area to fly out of Sacramento and lay over somewhere to rest as it is hard to travel for that many hours and lose sleep. The question has anyone done this flying to Porto Portugal and where is a great lay over with non-stop the rest of the way that has a nice hotel at airport so we can connect without renting a car appreciate everyone's information.
