We are off soon to Portugal and Madeira for a month. We are going almost everywhere! Are there any particular activities, day tours, or excursions we HAVE to do? We obviously have plenty of time and I have a cast of FOMO (fear of missing out). We will have a car.

Sintra. I loved it, especially the Pena Palace and the Moorish Castle ruins. I also loved the little narrow streets and the sculptures along the river.

Our favorite place in Sintra was the older Palacio National with it’s tiled ceilings.
We loved Guimares, Portugal’s first capital, and the Minho region in the north.

I did day long food tours with Culinary Backstreets in Lisbon and Porto and they were great! We had amazing food and I really enjoyed hearing about life in portugal from the tour guides.
