Portugal day tours

Viator and Trip Advisor are the same company and they sell other peoples tours, just like Get Your Guide, Tours by Locals, or Air BnB experiences. They take a hefty commission (22-30%), so it is always better to book direct if possible.

I have been looking for a short 2-3 hour tour of Porto and just used Google. It brought up all kinds of tours of Porto and I imagine Lisbon will have more.

I've looked into day tours for both cities. I read this review and completely agree with it's sentiment when it comes to Viator, Tripadvisor. "In my experience, the small group van tours, as you've noted, do pack in a lot in one day---not only Sintra (usually with only one monument, not all 3) plus a stop in the center of the town, then on to Cabo de Roca and Cascais, making a loop." It seems very rushed to me. Can anyone recommend day tour operators that make more sense?

I can highly recommend Lisbon On Wheels. As I've posted before on this forum , they do customized personalized tours. We did a day tour to Sintra and saw 4 monuments and skipped Cabo de Roca and Cascais. We saw National Palace, Pena Palace, the Moorish Castle and Quinta Regaleira. The tour lasted 10 hours and we were able to see in that time the interiors of the palaces as well. We only felt rushed at Quinta Regaleira. I would strongly recommend them and I would go to their website and book directly.

We took the train from Lisbon to Sintra and back. Used a guide book, no guided tours and saw it all.

Enjoyed my day tour to Obidos Fatima and Nazare through Lisbon Riders. It left from Lisbon near Avenida de Liberade in the morning and dropped us off at the same spot in the early evening. Money well spent.
