Portugal airport Strikes

Hello

Flying from Lisbon to Casablanca on Sept 5. Heard there is a potential strike with ground staff in all Portugal airports on this day. Do anyone have any information

Yes, there are scheduled strikes from 3 September until January every weekend. As with the scheduled strikes in August, there is a good possibility they will be cancelled long before January. But, since you are flying on the first weekend, you can pretty much count on it happening.

In August, the first weekend strike was the worst (sorry) with a number of cancelled flights, flights leaving Lisbon with no baggage, delays, etc.

if you can fly with just carryon luggage, it would be much, much better.

The website Safe Communities Portugal has good information, as does The Portugal News - to a lesser degree. If you simply google Lisbon airport strikes, you will get plenty of up to date information.

For my next trip I'll be flying in and out of the airport at Lisbon on three different dates that are scheduled for strikes. I always travel carryon only, but rather than bring a rolling bag this trip, I'm planning to just use my backpack since from what I've seen (at least with TAP) they are less likely to gate check a backpack in the case of a full flight. I don't know if that's accurate or not, it's just something I've casually observed a few times, and I'm guessing more people than normal will be doing carryon so there's a greater chance they'll be doing gate checking. Fingers crossed all goes smoothly!

Hmm. We are scheduled on TAP from Toulouse to Lisbon/Porto on Oct. 31. I wonder the likelihood of cancellation, and the consequence, since it's not an airline strike, but an airport strike. A bit mindboggling, really, to forge a plan B.

We are flying into Porto, from the States, on October 10. This is the first day of one of the strike periods. We hope to carry on our luggage. I'm wondering if we should look into arriving on the 9th.
We fly out of Porto on October 21, the day after one of the strike periods ends. Will this impact our departure? Should we arrive earlier at the airport?
I looked at the Safe Communities Portugal website and couldn't find any information about the strike. Do you know where I can find it?
Thank you for the information.

My flight schedule is during their strike schedule in early Nov.

The courts have intervened a bit on these strikes but it might not help you too much if you are flying internationally - from the U.S. or Canada. For non-international flights (within Europe), the courts have ordered them to provide 100% of services. For international flights only 35%. There is a good chance they strikes will settle and be called off my November but no guarantee.

I would not cancel my trip but would try for carryon only. If there is a possibility to change your flight to mid week, that would be good.

Safe Communities is a Facebook page and they publish when something new comes up. I have good luck simply googling airport strikes Lisbon.

Thanks so much for the info! I really appreciate it.
My connecting flights are in FRA on 11/1 and in MUC on 11/9. Sounds like my flights might be OK.
