We're planning a 30 day trip to Portugal. We plan to stay in Lisbon and Porto (about 5 nights in each) without a car. Part of the trip is to rent a car for 10 days and visit the towns Obidos, Alcobaca, Fatima, Batalha, Nazare. We prefer to find a base to stay and then day trip to these towns and surrounding country side. We're looking for recommendations and suggestions on which town to stay during this part of our trip. Thank you
We are staying in Tomar with a car. We will drive to all those places you name. This will be then end of September.
Thank you. I'm going to consider Tomar. Have you decided on lodgings?
We spent a night in Óbidos and visited Alcobaca monastery en route to Nazaré where we spent 2 nights. We spent 4 nights in Tomar and day tripped to Batalha and Fátima one day, and to Almourol castle another day.
If picking up the car in Lisbon you could visit Óbidos and Alcobaca en route to wherever you decide. A couple hours or slightly more in each should be sufficient.
In Tomar we stayed at Thomar Botique hotel. There is a free public parking lot next to it. There are free lots in all the places you’re going to.
Thank you. I think we're going to stay in Tomar and do as you suggest stop at Óbidos and Alcobaca along the way. We plan on an early flight so should have plenty of time once we arrive.
We’re staying at the Hotel Republica Boutique Hotel. They have parking.
