Porto train help

When traveling by train from Porto to Coimbra, I read somewhere to take the local train from Porto Campanha station to Coimbra A (city) station...true??

To train from Porto To Pinhao for a day trip to Douro, which Porto train station is best to get this train?

And for day trip to Guimares, which Porto station is best to catch this train?

Many thanks!!

No, for Coimbra you want to go to Coimbra B. Campanha is the station in Porto to use, or you can also take the train from Gaia.

I’m assuming you are using the cp.pt website for trains in Portugal.
You might want to check out Rome2rio. It’s the website that gives you great information on traveling from point A to point B - pretty much anywhere you want to go.

Yes, Rome2Rio is great for telling you whether there is train service, bus service, or both. Just don't trust what it says about fares, travel times or frequences. For those you need to keep clicking until you reach the website of the train or bus company.

The city-center Porto Sao Bento station has direct regional trains to Guimares and a direct service to the Duoro valley at 9:00 a.m. daily. (In the opposite direction, the direct train returns from Pinhao at noon, so you'll want a later, connecting service.) For most longer distance trains, you make your way to Porto Campanha station, either by train, taxi, or metro.
