PORTO TO LISBON,Portugal

Hello everyone,
i always use this forum when i have questions--I definitely appreciate your inputs!.
Here is our issue:
In June 2026, we got a good deal on RT tickets to Porto--3 adults.
However, the RS tour starts in Lisbon.
We always come in 1 day earlier to overcome jetlag and get settled.

i am asking for suggestions for the best way to just get from Porto to Lisbon.
I know there is a train connection between the two cities, but I would also like to ask if anyone has any good experiences with a really good and reliable car service to get to Lisbon from Porto.
--all means of suggested transport between the 2 cities would be appreciated and considered.

We took the train and it worked fine. It was a direct route, and around three hours if I remember correctly. The train was comfortable and modern. We booked ahead of time to get the best rate.

Other than a car service, you could always price out a car rental with a one-way drop off.

Edit: just realized you may be coming in from a trans-Atlantic flight and you may be jet legged. In that case driving a car might not be the best idea:)

I’ve also heard of a company called MyDayTrip but I don’t have personal experience. Might be something to check out.

The long distance bus services are also very good in Portugal. Flixbus, Gypsy and Rede are the big ones. Less expensive than the trains (which are still quite inexpensive).

With either the train or bus being so easy and comfortable , I, personally, would not go to the expense of a driver.

Flixbus has a route departing from Porto airport direct to Lisbon Oriente station.

In Lisbon you can take the Metro at Oriente station.

If you prefer to take the train from Porto to Lisbon, you'll have to make your way from Porto airport to Porto Campanha train station.
