Porto to Lisbon - need road trip recommendations

Hello all!
We are doing a 2.5 week trip to Portugal in late September/early October. The last part of the trip is planned: an 8 day bike tour along the Coast south of Lisbon, and then a return to Lisbon to stay for 5 nights. I need help with the front end of this trip.
We land in Porto, and I have booked a car to return to the Lisbon airport 5 days later where we meet up with our cycling group.

How would you recommend spending these 5 days?

There are an enormous number of places to see between the two cities. You might want to Google Silver Coast Portugal for the coastal areas. Aveiro (closer to Porto) Coimbra, Tomar, Alcobaça and Batalha are all quite interesting. You will need to pick and choose as there are more nice things than you can do in 5 days.
