Hi,
I would like opinions on what people feel are the best restaurants, Pastelaria’s and cafes in Porto?I am leaving for Porto Sunday.

Thanks

Our visit to Porto in May of 2023 was punctuated by delightful eateries.
For dinner, we loved O Caracas on Rua das Taipas in the Old Town. A homestyle restaurant run by two sisters, it features one meat and one fish entree every day, with side dishes served family style. Reasonably priced, plenty of local folk dining here, nice atmosphere.
For a pasteleria, you will enjoy Castro on Rua da Mouzinho da Silveira is an upscale spot with pasteis, coffee, hot chocolate and tea. You may have to walk around construction barriers for the new subway line to get to this place but well worth any detour you may encounter. You can watch the pasteis being made behind a glass window while you enjoy your food.
Another recommendation is the recently renovated Mercado do Bolhao, a market a few blocks from Sao Bento train station. There are stalls with produce, meat, fish, cheese, flowers and baked goods but you can also purchase ready to eat items such as tapas, sandwiches, wine and fresh fruit juices. There is not much seating available so you can either eat and walk or bring the food along for a picnic.
Happy travels!
