Porto....Questions !

We will bw in Portugal in july. We have 13 nights for the whole Portugal (we dont want to go into the Algarve). We have some questions about Porto.

1) Is 2 nights enough ? We have a filght arriving at 10;55 from barcelona. So maybe we can start visit the city at 14:00 or something like that. and have the next full day. We have 2 kids (5 and 9 years old)

2) Where should we look for accomodation ? What is the best place to stay for a short period.

3) We want to rent a car after porto, is there many locators in the city ?

4) We want to go to Guimaraes and Braga. Should we do it as daytrip from porto 9and add night in porto) or do it with our car and stay in one or other city for one night ?

5) the same for Douro valley !

Thanks a lot !

We loved Porto. You can see most of the city in 1 1/2 days. You would not have time to take a cruise on the Douro. If you go to Brag or another city for a day trip, you would need to add more days. Check Viator for day trips tours from Porto.

We stayed at the most wonderful B&B in Porto in a great location by the river. Cost was 95 Euros per night, although, with kids, you might need two rooms. Still, it is a fantastic place and breakfast is amazing.

It is the InPatio Guesthouse. They only have five rooms, so book early.

You probably will want to spend at least three nights in Lisbon, more if you do day trips like to Evora.

You could rent a car and visit some interesting places between Porto and Lisbon. Batalia, Obidos, Sintra, Cascas are just a few.

Portugal is great, the people are very friendly.

HI!

1) - Yes, for Porto 2 nights are enough if you restrict yourseld to the city center. If you want to visit Foz (Porto seaside) or Matosinhos (neighbour to Porto, you can go by netro, very good for fresh fish) than you need more 1 day and a half. Of course it also depends if you are interested in museums, parks, and other places that take some time to visit. And you probably want to cross the bridge and go to a porthouse in Vila Nova de Gaia (another neighbour).

2) - The best is to stay at the city center, as you are with limited time. Near Palácio da Bolsa is a very good location.

3) - LOts of them.

4) - Both are nice cities, maybe visit Guimarães during one morning and then go to Braga and overnight. Or visit Braga, go to Guimarães and overnigh there. Braga needs a complete day if you want to see the city and also "Bom Jesus" (search google).

5) - What about a river cruise? Might be funny for kids.
